Several guidelines have been proposed for component based design. A key step in these methodologies is component partition, whereby the functional requirements of the system are assigned to the components. This work compares the different partition methods proposed so far. To this end, the same case study is applied to each method, and the resulting component architecture compared. As a result, we show the impact that the chosen method has on the resulting architecture, or more specifically, on the granularity of the components.
