TITLE OF THE PROJECT : Accumulation and Evolution of Design Knowledge in Research Software: From SUStainability to TRAnsferability (SUSTRA)
Financiación. Programa “Proyectos Generación de Conocimiento”

The Project SUSTRA (2021-2026) aims to answer three questions: (1) What would be a model of software transferability? Which are the constructs involved?; (2) How could artifacts be engineered for transferability?; (3) How can trustworthiness between research peers be built? Which factors are at play? Transferability raises both technical and social issues. This is what makes this project interdisciplinary. We focus on research software. Hence, the participation of software engineers is a must. However, we aim at making this software transferable. And this is not only a technical problem but raises concerns about teamwork, mutual confidence, and building win-win relationships. SE practices and Management theories should team up to create a Model of Transferability for RS. Therefore, this project’s goals intermingled technical and social goals which are derived from the aforementioned research questions.
